June 2010: EFA Newcomers

What a show!!!!!

In a first for the Leeara Park Show Team, we achieved the following: -

Leeara Park Royal Petite: - 2010 EFA Newcomer Large Pony of the Year under Judge: Mr Joh Bailey, backing up from her SHC Newcomer win.

and

LP Superstar: - 2010 EFA Newcomer Hack of the Year under Judge: - Mr Simon DeLeuww

We received some wonderful comments from the Judges and competitors alike and were thrilled with how they both worked and handled such a big atmospheric event. To have bred, broken, educated, produced LP Royal Petite and converted LP Superstar from track to hack ourselves, it was such a honour and a thrill for our hardwork to have paid off, not once but twice!!!

It was a day of firsts, our first EFA Newcomer win, our first Royal and Regal of Sefton baby and the first time that we won two titles in one day!

Huge thank yous to Melissa Direen, who worked tirelessly all day ensuring the kids looked at their best at all time, mum, dad, maggie - everyone that made this dream possible.

Thank you to Saddles Plus for their generous sponsorship, it is much appreciated. Thanks also to Brooke from Perfect Pony Photographics for the awesome photo.

June 2010: Presley finds himself a wonderful new home!!!

Huge Congratulations must go to Celeste Mills on her purchase of the very beautiful, upstanding colt, Leeara Park Rock n Roll. Presley has certainly fallen on his feet and will be out and about in the show scene soon. We cant wait to report on their successes together.

We are so thrilled to have some more people additions to the Leeara Park show team, definitely some fun shows to be had coming up!

May 2010: SHC Classic

What a weekend! The heavens opened up on Gosnells both Saturday and Sunday, with strong winds, pelting rain and the temperature being close to freezing!! However, the show must go on!

Leeara Park Royal Petite (whom was out for 6 weeks due to illness) had a stella day and was awarded: -

2010 SHC Newcomer Large Pony of the Year and Runner Up Large Pony at the SHC Classic (GN's Qualifier)

We were thrilled as this is Royal and Regal of Sefton's first progeny undersaddle and half sibling to Leeara Park First Edition whom recently made his way to his new home in New Zealand. Pictures will be available soon!!!

We currently have Royal Petite's full brother available for sale, please contact the stud for more information.

May 2010: Bibs & Booties

It was wonderful to hear from Angela and Amy Rowan, owners of the beautiful Leeara Park Birthday Girl (R & R of Sefton X Tanglewood Pk Serenade in Gold). Claudia had a fantastic show and was awarded the following: - Best Presented Palomino, Best Conformed, Champion Palomino Yearling, Supreme Palomino and then topped off her day by being awarded Grand Champion Dilute Exhibit of the Show!!!

Huge Congratulations to everyone involved with this lovely pony.

April 2010: TB HOTY

We had a wonderful day at the newly developed TB Horse of the Year under judges Mr Dale Plumb and Ms Robyn Endersby. We took LP Superstar and Perfect by Nature, they were awarded the following: -

LP Superstar: - Champion Best Presented In-hand Exhibit, Champion Smartest on Parade Ridden, Champion Newcomer Hack, Champion Open Hack and Grand Champion Ridden Exhibit.

Perfect By Nature: - Champion TB Gelding over 12 years, Reserve Champion Open Show Hunter, Reserve Champion Rider with Brittany and Champion Handler with Caris. What a day!

We were very proud of both boys, whom behaved impeccably all day. Pictures to follow...

April 2010: Leo Arrives!

We have wonderful news that Leo has arrived in New Zealand safe and well. His travel companion was the top TB Stallion Zabeel. By all reports, Leo was wonderfully behaved, even walking off the plane onto the tarmac without any sedation.

Paris has had her first ride and they are getting along wonderfully. We cant wait to hear how he is going in the future.

April 2010: Leo SOLD TO NEW ZEALAND

All of us here at Leeara Park are very proud to announce that the superstar Large Pony and current 2010 National Supreme Champion Childs Ridden Riding Pony has been sold to the most wonderful home in New Zealand.

Congratulations to Deborah Ferris and her family on the purchase of Leo, especially Paris(who is only 6) and wish them the very best of success with this very special pony.

Leo flys out on 25th April and although we are nervous about his impending flight, we are very excited about him flying the flag for Leeara Park internationally.

We have been lucky enough to be invited to next years New Zealand Horse of the Year and cant wait to hopefully see Leo and Paris at EFA Nationals in the future.

April 2010: APSB Stud Show & Perth Horse and Pony Club

We took our LP Royal Petite out for the first time since her illness to the APSB Stud show along with her younger brother LP Peter Pan, whom is having a very successful start to his career. Peter Pan won the Champion Colt/Stallion APSB Riding Pony award, whilst Royal Petite was awarded Champion Mare/Filly, Supreme APSB RP Youngstock and Supreme Overall APSBS Riding Pony beating some very stiff competition (including her brother!) and bringing home her first garland!

Royal Petite and her newcomer partner LP Superstar went to a hack day at Perth Horse and Pony club, both were impeccably behaved with LP Superstar being awarded Champion Large Hack and Royal Petite being awarded Reserve Champion Large Pony and Champion Childs Pony all at her first show. Thank you to Jessica Marsh for riding Lilly so professionally.

March 2010: Striking off to SA

We are very proud to announce that the super small hack (and rider class superstar) Striking aka Sam has been sold to a wonderful new home in South Australia.

Congratulations to Louisa Smith on your purchase of Sammy, we have no doubt that he will be as successful for you as he has been for us.

It was always going to be hard saying goodbye to one of our much loved hacks but finding such a loving and perfect home for Sam made the final goodbyes much easier.

Pictured Below: - Sam with his new mum, Louisa.

March 2010: Grand Nationals

We headed over to Sydney to compete in the 2010 Grand National Championships with our devine large pony Leeara Park First Edition. We hadnt seen Leo since winning at the National Riding Pony Show in February so were stoked when he arrived looking amazing. Leo was immaculately behaved all weekend and put in the best workout with Bronte Monaghan that ive seen him do. His lengthen trot was unbelieveable. He then carried 10 yr old Casey Russell through a foot perfect workout at her very first Grand Nationals.

Thank you to Maggie Lees for all the work that you have done making Leo look at his very best, Lyn Lee and Family for trucking our boy up to Sydney with your team of beautiful show horses, Darryl Hayes for transporting Leo back to Victoria after the nationals, Bronte Monaghan for working so hard and producing a 'spine-tingling' workout and everyone else that helped make Leo work and look at his very best.

Brittany also managed to find a rider class mount, riding Sky Chorus, a lovely large hack from SA whom himself was still a newcomer at his first Grand Nationals produced together a beautiful workout and from only one ride, we were stoked with both Buddy's and Britt's perfomance.

Thank you to everyone that was helping Britt find a mount in the dying stages, Paul Austin, Bree Petrie and Judy Kaponica. Definitely could not have done it without you.

Leo is available for sale to a top show home, please visit the for sale page for more information.

March 2010: Novice/Intermediate Show

LP Superstar competed at his second show in the Novice Hack classes under eastern state Judge Mr John Paget. Brock was awarded Champion Novice Hack and Supreme Novice Hack over 14hh cumlinating in him winning his first rug and his first swabbing! We had some lovely comments about him and are stoked with the way he is handling the transformation into a show pony.

March 2010: Canning Districts Hack Show

We took LP Superstar out for his first outing under saddle where he won both his height and weight classes and then was awarded Champion Hack. He was very well behaved and considering he hasnt been ridden off the property at all, he handled the atmosphere like a true professional. (Pictured)

February 2010: RIDING PONY SHOWCASE  WA

Our second progeny, Leeara Park Royal Petite, and the first from our stallion Royal and Regal of Sefton, competed at her first ridden show.   We were extremely thrilled with her behaviour, and thank Jessica Marsh for doing a wonderful job with Lilly.
She was awarded Reserve Champion Part Bred Welsh ridden pony under Judge Raymond Butler (VIC).
We had some lovely comments from the Judges on how well she had worked for such a young pony.

Our next achievement was being awarded Champion Foal of the Show with our little man Leeara Park Peter Pan, by our Stallion Royal and Regal of Sefton. (Pictured Below)

This makes our third consecutive Foal of the Year wins for our stallion Royal and Regal of Sefton, a fantastic achievement.    Leeara Park Royal Petite (FOTY 2007), Leeara Park Birthday Girl (FOTY 2009), and Leeara Park Peter Pan (FOTY 2010).   EI prohibited any show in 2008.   We produce a small number of top quality foals each year and we are extremely excited about their future show careers.

On the home front we have two exciting Newcomers coming out this season, our large pony Leeara Park Royal Petite and a very elegant hack LP Superstar.  We look forward to their success.

STOP PRESS ! Leeara Park First Edition Wins National Supreme Title !!!!!!!

Wow! what a fantastic couple of weeks Leeara Park have had.    Firstly we decided as our highly successful riding pony, Leeara Park First Edition (Leo), was attending Grand Nationals at the end of March in New South Wales, why not sent him from WA to Victoria earlier than planned so he could compete at the Riding Pony Nationals on the 14th February.   Our good friend, Maggie Lees from Sefton Stud, was happy to have Leo in her stable block, being a son of Rathowen XL (Felix) and the first of Felix’s progeny to qualify for Grand Nationals.    As Caris & Britt were also leading and riding for Sefton Stud at the Riding Pony Nationals, it seemed the sensible thing to do.

We were absolutely thrilled when Leeara Park First Edition, our first progeny, and at only four years of age, was first awarded National Champion Children’s Ridden Riding Pony 12.2h – 13h under Judge Joanne Prestwidge.   Leo then claimed the National Supreme Champion Children’s Ridden Riding Pony award (under Joanne Prestwidge) ahead of some extremely well known and competitive ponies.

We would like to thank Bree Petrie for sourcing young Bronte Monaghan to partner Leo and with only 10 minutes practice, and having never ridden Leo before, they worked the house down to claim both Titles.   A true testament to his “show ring” character and suitability for a child.

Leo is offered for sale to the best of show homes only.   He is the most amazing pony, and like his father, he has been bred to win.

2009 - November: Rolle fights again

On the 17th of November, Rolle was struck down with his second bout of Colic. He was very painful so we quickly took him up to Belvoir for observation. He was there for most of the afternoon when we told around 7:00pm that if we didnt operate we would most likely lose him due to the small intestines distending at a rapid rate and the vets being unsure of the cause.

Therefore the decision was made to transport Rolle to Murdoch where he would go on to have a a very serious 5 hour operation under the very experienced hand of Mr Dave Murphy.

The recovery was very touch and go as there had been incisions made and being a second operation, the recovery was much slower.

But thankfully after 19 days in intensive care at Murdoch, Rolle has been a little fighter and is now at home with us.

Although we hadn't served any of our own mares yet and it was right at the wrong time of the year, we are forever grateful to the wonderful team at Murdoch and Rolle's head recovery vet, Mr Pete Harding who at times was up most of the night with Rolle.

He definitely left an impact on the team at Murdoch, all of which loved having Rolle around.

Thank you to everyone for their emails and phone calls, this has been a very trying and stressful time. The support has been much appreciated.

We cant believe what a little fighter our man is and are so proud to have him putting his head over the stable door and digging into his dinner.

2009 - November: Bella foals!

Bella has delivered a beautiful dark bay colt with a lovely large star. Presley is super friendly and is sure to be a superstar galloway of the future. With a lovely set front and a devine head, Presley will sadly be offered for sale. Please contact the stud for more details.

2009 - October : Foals are arriving!!

We have had two foals born both by Royal and Regal of Sefton. Weatherley Figurine was first to go and delivered a very tiny, gorgeous chesnut colt. To mature 12.2approx, Harley is absolutely stunning with huge poppy eyes and devil ears. He was also lucky enough to get a big even star and a back sock.

Tanglewood Park Serenade in Gold then delivered a very unusual and beautiful black buckskin colt. Oscar is full sibling to RP Foal of the Year winners, LP Royal Petite & LP Birthday Girl. He has a big star and snip and a back sock. He will certainly follow in his big sisters hoofprints as he is so fine and leggy with an unbelieveable front and head for a newborn.

Oscar is being offered for sale, Expressions of Interest are invited.

2009 - Perth Royal Show

Every year we swear that we wont take as many next year. And every year - the same thing happens! However, we had a fantastic and very successful Royal Show with us entering 6. They were awarded: -

LP Superstar: At his first Royal, 1st Thoroughbred Gelding over 16hh and Champion Led Thoroughbred Gelding. He was fantastic all day and handled it all with ease - even without earplugs!

Striking: 4th Led TB Gelding 15 -15.2hh, 2nd Ridden TB Gelding. Then was awarded 1st Novice Hack 15 - 15.2hh (beating some very stiff and successful combinations) and worked the house down in Champion. He also partnered with Britt to be awarded 2nd Rider 17 - 21ys and partnered Maddison Demmler (VIC) in the Rider 14 & 15yrs to be awarded 2nd, where they also worked faultlessly together. All up, Sam competed in 11 classes over the show (6 days) and was perfect in every class. We couldnt be more proud of him.

Leeara Park Royal Petite: Lilly was awarded 1st in the Riding Pony Filly 3 yrs beating some lovely competition.

Leeara Park Royal Destiny: Holly was awarded 4th in the Riding Pony Filly 1yr with the winner of this class going on to be the Supreme Champion Riding Pony. We were very proud of how Holly handled her first Royal.

Leeara Park Birthday Girl: Britt showed Claudia on behalf of her owner Angela Rowan. Claudia worked beautifully and was awarded 6th in the Riding Pony Filly 1 yr.

Leeara Park First Edition: We were stoked with Leo who partnered with Jessica March won the Open 13 - 13.2hh height group. We decided to sit Leo out of the other classes to give him the best possible chance in the Championship. We were both delighted and very emotional when Leo was called forward as Reserve Champion Open Large Pony at the Perth Royal Show. He is Rathowen XL's (dec) first National qualifier.

Royal and Regal of Sefton: Rolle ended off a fantastic week by winning the Part Welsh Stallion 4 yrs and over, then to be awarded Champion Led Part Welsh Stallion or Colt over a very impressive colt. Caris was very nervous to be showing Rolle at the Royal again after winning Supreme 2 yrs ago, but we were delighted with Rolle and how he showed. A true testament to his nature and presence.

All in all, what a Royal! Out of 6 ponies competed by the stud, 5 came home with a blue ribbon. We couldnt have done as well as we did though without help from some wonderful people: -

Maddie Demmler: Who's hard work and determination paid off with her being awarded 2nd in her Rider aboard Striking. Not only that, she rode all the ponies at home and worked tirelessly to ensure they were all looking their absolute best.

Maggie Lees: Who finally came over to see the team! Without her, we wouldnt have this sort of a team. Both Rolle's Melbourne mother, and our second mum. :)

Deb Demmler: Who worked tirelessly and helped where ever she could.

Melissa Direen: Who even when she was sick came to the Royal and helped us prep, lunge and handle the ponies.

Jessica Marsh: Who piloted our beloved Leo to all his winnings and ensured he worked fantastic.

Corinne Marsh: For driving Jess down to the show grounds every day and helping whereever possible.

Our mum and dad: Who although arent horse people, were at the royal every day supporting us, driving us to and from the royal and doing whatever they could to help out.

Thank you to you all, you were all awesome and without you - this sort of success would not be possible.

2009 - Pre-Royal Breed Show

We took Brock (LP Superstar) for one more run before the Royal Show. He was great all day and was awarded Supreme Thoroughbred and Top 5 Supreme of Supreme's Overall.

2009 - EFA HOTY

We were fortunate to get both Perfect By Nature and Striking into the Top 10 Large Hack and Small Hack respectively. It was surprising that our Leeara Park First Edition didnt make the 10 after performed a faultless and beautiful workout. Perfect by Nature worked beautiful and was a awarded a 1st, but after the score tallying was awarded 2nd Runner Up. Striking also worked fantastic with a very expressive lengthen trot.

After a very late night (the large hacks didnt finish until 11:00pm), we decided to compete Leeara Park First Edition in the Led Large Pony. This was under a different judge to the Preliminary Judge the day before. It was fantastic when Leo was awarded Led Large Pony of the Year and beating some of the ponies that had made the final the day before.

2009 - Gosnells Masters

We competed with Leeara Park First Edition (Leo), Striking (Sam) and Perfect By Nature (Jubes). Leo won the very strong Childs Pony 12.2hh - 14hh and was second in his height 13-13.2hh. Brittany was awarded Champion Rider 17 - 21yrs riding Striking again qualifying her for the Grand Nationals 2010, they performed a faultless workout and beat some very tough competition. Jubes won the Ladies hack over 16hh. All three worked fantastically all weekend and we were very proud of them.

Big Congratulations to Raelene and Brooke Anthony who won Champion Small Galloway with their Braefoot Park Summer Cruise, qualifying them for Grand Nationals 2010. Good Job. :)

2009 - Baldivis Breed Show & Pinjarra Championship Day:

We decided to have a big weekend of showing and took Rolle (Royal and Regal of Sefton) to his first breed show in 2 yrs and his first breed show (to the date) since he was released from hospital after his severe colic operation. We also took along Brock (LP Superstar) for his first breed show. They both attended Baldivis and were awarded the following: -

Royal and Regal of Sefton: Supreme Riding Pony, Supreme Part Welsh and a unanimous Supreme of Supreme Pony award beating some stiff competition.

LP Superstar: Supreme Thoroughbred & Top 3 Supreme of Supreme Horse.

Both behaved like absolute stars, and were a pleasure to show.

We then decided to take Leeara Park First Edition to the Pinjarra Champs on the sunday, where he and Brittany were awarded Champion Large Pony and Supreme Overall Official Pony under Judge, Ms Shelley Riley.

What a weekend!

2009 - EFA Newcomers:

We competed Leeara Park First Edition at this Show where he was awarded Runner Up EFA Newcomer Large Pony of the Year out of a very strong lineup of quality large ponies. He did the workout of the day and we were stoked with how he handled such a big event.

2009 - SHC Classic & Hack Council Newcomers:

We attended this show with Leeara Park First Edition, Striking and Perfect By Nature. We were thrilled with our results, with Leo (LP First Edition) being awarded Runner Up Newcomer Large Pony of the Year under David Quayle (VIC) and winning his Open Pony Height 13-13.2hh class. Brittany was then awarded Runner Up Rider 17 - 21yrs riding her very successful hack Striking, and Perfect by Nature (after only being home 3 weeks) was awarded Runner Up Large Hack which again qualified him for the 2010 Grand National Championships - back in Sydney!

2009 - Arabian Horse of the Year:

We decided to enter Leo (LP First Edition) for his first ridden class indoors at the Arabian Horse of the Year. We were stoked when Leo was awarded Champion Ridden Arabian Derivative 14hh and under. He worked fantastic with Britt, and together they also won the Preliminary 1:2. Leo then fronted up for his Led Arabian Derivative Classes and was awarded Champion Led Three Yr old Arabian Derivative of the Show beating not only very successful but much bigger competitors.

2009 - Grand Nationals:

We decided to make the long trip to Sydney in March 2009 to compete our very successful large hack Perfect By Nature in the Grand National Championships. We had a very successful show with Jubes performing faultlessly at all times to be awarded Top 10 Large Hack and carried Britt to an awesome rider workout to be awarded Top 10 Rider 17 - 21yrs out of 40 entrants in both classes.

We would like to thank Maggie Lees from Sefton Stud for looking after Jubes (and us!) for 5 weeks while we prepared Jubes, drove us to Sydney, help us compete and was fantastic moral support at such a major show. We would also like to thank Notable Horse Transport who treated Jubes with the upmost care.

Whilst we were there, Caris and Maggie discovered a new TB gelding that was too good not to bring home. Although we were not looking for another horse, Brock made his way across the nullabour with Jubes on their way home. We couldnt be happier with him.

Year Windup

2008 has been a big year for us here at Leeara Park.  It has brought about many memories, success stories, near tragedies, stunning foals and some fantastic wins.

Our show team this year has been very strong and because of this our hard work and effort has paid off in some brilliant success throughout the season.  Both LP First Edition (Leo) and LP Royal Petite (Lilly) have continued their in hand careers with many supreme champions to their names on every outing.  They are a credit to us, always behaving immaculately and perform to the highest of levels.  We enjoyed some great wins at the All Stars Pony Show, the Annual RP Show & Welsh Shows and various other major breed shows.  LP Regal Reflection (Elvis) also began his led career in 2008, handling all situations and preparation with ease – culminating in being awarded Reserve champion at the Perth Royal.

Left – LP Royal Petite

Right – LP Regal Reflection

Both our show hacks “Perfect By Nature” (Jubes) and “Striking” (Sammy) have had some great achievements throughout the year.  Jubes won the Ladies Hack at the SHC Classic (GN Qualifier), then went on to win the 16-16.2hh and Champion Large Hack at the Gosnells Masters (GN Qualifier).  He was Top Ten EFA HOTY and continued his success at the Perth Royal Show, where he was awarded Champion Led Thoroughbred Gelding.  Jubes finished off the season in the finest form by working the absolute ‘house-down’ and being awarded the much deserved title of SHC LARGE HACK OF THE YEAR for 2008! (GN Qualifier).  He was a ‘clear’ winner (judge’s points) and we were extremely ecstatic and emotional with the decision.  We have worked very hard and Caris did an amazing job in riding him to the win.  So that gives Jubes three GN Qualifications (SHC Classic winner 2007 also) and we are considering the long trek at present to Sydney for the Grand Nationals in 2009.

Perfect By Nature

Striking has also had a very successful 2008 season.  Unfortunately due to Britt’s study commitments and later her illness with Glandular Fever, Sammy missed out on competing at some of the major shows we would have loved to see him at (SHC Classic, Gosnells Masters and EFA HOTY).  He did however compete at the EFA Winter Gala and came home with Reserve Champion Hack in tough competition.  He competed at only two hack shows at the beginning of the year with Champion at one and Reserve at the other (easily qualifying him for the Royal Show 08).  After a couple of months off showing, Sammy was prepared for the Perth Royal Show and competed with great success.  He was second in the novice 15-15.2hh, Runner Up in the Prestigious Leslie Jones Memorial event (hack showing best thoroughbred qualities) and placed in his open height, lightweight and ladies.  He also carried me to third in a highly competitive rider class 18-21yrs.

Striking

Since the Royal, Britt and Sam have been showing on a regular basis again achieving Top Ten Small Hack at the SHC HOTY, and Champion and Supreme Hack (and champion senior rider) at Riverside Festival of Hacks (November 2008).  All in all a fantastic end to the season.

We had a terrible shock in the middle of the year when our stallion “Rolle” suffered an extremely bad case of Colic.  After a long period of time, with no improvement, we made the worrying decision to operate.  This was our only hope to save our boy, and after a shaky recovery, he is back to his old happy self again.  It seemed that he had a large impaction in his intestines, very close to the small colon and it was considered a very ‘special’ and rare colic surgery.  After seeing Rolle in such a bad way, we were extremely grateful to see him on the mend.  He was boxed for two months, and handled this treatment excellently – a credit to his fabulous nature.  Three months after the operation, Rolle has been given the OK to serve this season, and so began covering our mares in November.  Currently we can report positive pregnancy scans for Tanglewood Park Serenade in Gold, Weatherley Figurine and Bella Darma.  We are awaiting scans for  Kirreway Electra this coming week.

We would also like to thank Maggie Lees (Sefton Stud, VIC) for using Rolle this season.  So far we are proud to announce a positive pregnancy test to ‘Great Occassion of Sefton’ – who is the dam of multi Royal Supreme Champ ‘Aspirations of Sefton’ (sire: Kirreway Ambition).  This was done throught Chilled semen AI, taking first time around.  We are very excited about what this cross will produce, and also the opportunity of having progeny by Rolle on the East Coast.

<<<Rolle

In light of breeding, our three new editions for 2009 have come to the world with ease.  Tanglewood Park Serenade in Gold (Sire: Ninfield Minks Supreme) delivered a petite palomino filly late afternoon on the 7th October.  She was 12days overdue, however “Claudia” is just divine – with blaze and four socks.  Claudia is full sister to LP Royal Petite (RP Foal OTY and multi Supreme champion).  On the 18th November Bella Darma (Sire: St Jude) delivered a very scopey little colt “Austin”, who is just all legs!.  He is bay with a ‘moon’ shaped star, and one hind sock.  Austin is extremely friendly (likes those scratches!) and stunning just likes his full brother LP Regal Reflection.  Kirreway Electra (Sire: Rotherwood Acrobat) delivered a spectacular black/brown filly on the 23rd November, being one week early.  “Holly” has a large star and is just gorgeous.  We are very proud to have this little filly, as we lost her full sister LP Cover Girl, last season.  These three foals are all by Rolle and we are very proud at the offspring he is producing.

Claudia Austin Holly

They are exceeding our expectations by far, his pony crosses are very true to type, and the thoroughbred crosses are just awesome.  He is stamping all his stock with quiet temperaments, extremely pretty heads, and compact, fine bodies.  We could not have asked for a more versatile stallion.

We would also like to congratulate Leanne Senbergs and family on the recent arrival of their little black colt (star, snip and sock) ‘Milo’ from Chiltern Park Eternity by Royal and Regal of Sefton (Rolle). He is just super and we look forward to this little man’s showing debut!

above Milo

Other exciting news, Dainhill Dalton was sold way back in April to Laura Ryn of NSW.  We wish her all the best and added success with Stevie, and couldn’t be happier with the home that he has gone to.

We would like to send our sincere condolences to our good friends Maggie Lees and Bill Pryse of Sefton Stud (VIC) in their tragic loss of super sire Rathowen XL.  Felix is the sire of our LP First Edition and was the ultimate show pony of the showing fraternity.  Caris had the honour of leading him to win the National Riding Pony Led Senior Show Pony in 2006.  He will never be replaced, but will live in our hearts forever.

Next year will see LP First Edition come out under saddle.  He was broken in by ourselves earlier in the year, and is coming along better than ever.  With his amazing movements and stunning presence, Leo should make a top class saddle prospect.  He will compete in Newcomers, HOTYs and the Perth Royal Show, and will be offered for sale late 2009.  Leo competed at his first ridden show on Saturday 6th Dec at the Dilute State Championships.  He was ridden by Britt and was impeccably behaved, being awarded Champion ridden pony.  He was then shown at Canning Districts Gala Breed show on Sunday 7th Dec.  He was awarded Supreme Riding Pony, Arabian Derivative and Show pony and went on to take out the Supreme of Supreme Junior of the Show (out of 16) and also Supreme of Supreme Pony of the Show.  To top off the great day we were having, Caris was also awarded champion handler!  Excellent way to finish off the 2008 season.

Expressions of interest are invited for the foals from this season.  Please view our Sale Stock page for further sale opportunities.  Photos to come soon on the Youngstock page.

With our show season over with, we have wound down to the much deserved break over the summer period.  The horses have just been put out to enjoy their holiday as well.

We wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a happy and successful 2009 season!

Cheers

Brittany and Caris Reside

12/3/2008

Sorry for the lack of updates over the summer!  We hope everyone has had a wonderful break and are ready to face the oncoming season ahead of us.  All our ponies have come back into work within the last month and stabled again – having all enjoyed their well earned break.  We too have certainly taken advantage of the ponies being out – ourselves benefiting from a social life for once!, and getting out and about wakeboarding as much as possible – our other highly enjoyed sport.

However since the lack of updates – we now have quite a lot of exciting news to tell.  First,  all three of our mares tested positive first serve to Rolle – and so we have Blondie due mid September, Bella due mid November, and Precious late November (it was such good news – emotional but pleasing – receiving a positive pregnancy test to Prec, as we had lost Cali only four days previous).  Also we would like to take this opportunity to thank Leanne Senbergs for entrusting the stud with her stunning little Welsh A mare Chiltern Park Eternity, who also tested positive to Rolle first serve.  Coco herself is a delightful girl and we are really looking forward to seeing what this cross will produce.

On another very exciting note ‘Royal and Regal of Sefton’ was nominated and chosen as a winner of the National Welsh Pony & Cob Society Achiever Award for the 2007 season.  This is a huge feat for a stallion, which of course are unable to compete in open ridden events, only breeds shows.

His amazing 2007 season –

  • Supreme Part Welsh Youngstock - WA Welsh Youngstock Show

  • Supreme Part Welsh, Supreme Riding Pony, Supreme Open Pony & Supreme of Supreme Pony - Pre Royal Breed Show

  • Supreme Part Welsh Exhibit - Perth Royal Show

Culminating in winning a National Achiever Award

We are very proud to have Rolle here at Leeara Park, as he has certainly proved himself both in his performances and in that of his progeny.  He has now been professionally trained to collect and is able to cover AI mares – chilled or frozen semen is available.

The hacks have also come back into work with a good frame of mind – much more content after a well earned break.  They all looking amazing – beautiful skins, healthy and nice and round!

We took Leo (First Edition) to the Gosnells Summer Show-offs in about mid February, where he was Champion Riding Pony colt, Champion Part Welsh colt and Supreme Part Welsh.  It was a very large turnout, with a high level of competition all round.

Lilly (Royal Petite) has also just come back into work and so will be out and about towards the middle of the season.  She is developing into a very special pony – we are sure her future will be very exciting.

Elvis is coming along in leaps and bounds – and growing into a real little gentleman with his long legs, compact body and stunning pony head.  He is such a beautiful boy to handle and very willing to learn.  New pictures soon on the youngstock page.

Ending on a very exciting note – Leeara Park would like to announce the arrival of a new edition to our broodmare band.  We would like to thank Julie and Emma Clarke for providing us with the opportunity to purchase “Weatherley Figurine” or otherwise known as Flossy.  She is a stunning liver chesnut, standing at 12.1 1/4hh by the well known sire ‘Weston Magician’ (photos to come on the Mares page).  Floss will be covered by Rolle for an early 2009 baby.

We hope to see everyone out at some shows in the near future!

13/1/2008

and so the saying goes “Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year”

Unfortunately we have had an extremely rough and sad start to 2008, all within the two weeks of the year.  We went away on holidays down south, like we do every year in January, and had neighbours of ours minding all the animals on the farm, including the horses.  We received a call on Monday the 7th reporting that ‘Cali’ our dear little filly had been found with her leg caught in the fence.  She was just standing there, waiting patiently for someone to come and help her out.  She was released and attended to by the vet soon after being bandaged to the hock to reduce the swelling, and was put on antibiotics etc.  It seemed that over the next few days Cali was coping really well and coming along in leaps and bounds.  It was then found out on Friday that Cali had been stuck in the fence longer than expected and had cut off the circulation to her hoof.  And so the devastating decision had to be made to put the little darling to rest.

Cali was born on the 28th October, and so was a mere 10weeks of age.  She was an exceptional foal, more than anyone could have ever asked for.  Super friendly from day one, easy to handle in every way, and extremely trainable.  She was out of our very successful show galloway Kirreway Electra and by our highly successful stallion Royal and Regal of Sefton - she was destined for an amazing career.  But more than being beautiful, her nature was amazing.  I would often wonder down the paddock to give her a cuddle as she was just such a sweetie to be around.

She is to be named ‘Leeara Park Cover Girl’.  Cali was getting prepared for the Foal Show in February were she would have made her debut.

Our sincere thanks go out to our vet and special friend in Kathy Klein, Raelene and Brooke Anthony for their admirable efforts and Lucy and Carly.  Thankyou all for taking such good care of our beautiful little girl and doing the best you could have ever done for her.

It makes it very hard to let go, when we never really got to say goodbye.  We watched her come to the world in good spirits.  Never did she have a bad day.

RIP Cali: A life short lived; but a miracle all the same.  May you enjoy horsey heaven as much as you enjoyed life with us.  You were such a very special girl.

xoxoxo

Yesterday we finished off the show season by taking Lilly (Leeara Park Royal Petite) to her first open breed show, and her fourth show for her career.  The show was held at Canning Districts grounds, with a large number of over 150 horses competing.  Lilly was awarded Best Presented Show Pony to start the day off, then won the Riding Pony  filly 3yr and under (beating two older fillies).  She was then the Champion Riding Pony mare or filly, and went on to claim the Supreme Riding Pony award, ahead of some very tough competition.  The judge commenting that she is a very special and divine pony. We are very proud of Lilly, and look forward to next years showing season.  Picture is of Lilly from the show.

Joined us for the day was Raelene and Brooke Anthony’s Braefoot Park Summer Cruise (Boo), who Caris led.  Caris deservingly won her handler class and was the Runner up Senior Handler of the show.  Boo was the winner of the Show Pony Mare class, and the Runner up Champion Show Pony.  Again a very good effort!

We took Leo (Leeara Park First Edition) and Blondie (Tanglewood Park Serenade in Gold) to the Dilute State Championships on the 2nd of December.  As Blondie is one of the broodmares, we took the time to prepare her for this show, which resulted in a successful transformation from broodmare to show pony!!  Leo also looked a treat, and will be broken to saddle in the near future.  Britt and Blondie took out the Best Presented Exhibit and Handler of the show, with Caris and Leo second, ahead of a further 15 beautiful palomino exhibits.

The judge presented Leo with the ‘Best Conformed’ 2 & 3yr old of the show – which we were extremely happy with as he was the first foal born at Leeara Park.

Later in the day, Blondie was the winner of the mare/filly 13hh and under, and was then declared Runner up State Champion Palomino mare.

All in all it was a great day, a very thorough judge, and many competitors – a big thank you to the UPWBDA who do a great job.

Due to the EFA Nationals being cancelled because of the EI outbreak, the EFA WA decided to run a Champion of Champions Show held on the 18th November.  This comprised of the qualifiers from EFA HOTY(national qualifier), SHC HOTY (GN qualifier) and the Perth Royal Show (GN qualifier).  As Britt had qualified for the Intermediate rider being awarded Runner Up at the EFA HOTY, she was invited to compete at this event.  On this occasion Britt borrowed Caris' show hack Jubes (Perfect By Nature) to ride, as her horse Sam (Striking) has been out of work due to TEE study commitments.  Jubes and Britt performed a faultless workout doing themselves proud.
Congratulations to all winners on the day, it was a very competitive show.

Cali (born 28/10/2007) is doing wonderfully, very sweet and very very friendly!!  She is really growing into a beautiful girl.

Bella Darma delivered for us today a extremely leggy exquisite bay colt with a star and one sock.  Elvis as he will be known at home came to the world with ease and seems to be coping a lot better than his maiden mother!  We were extremely lucky again as we were both present at the birth, he was born at approximately 10:30am.  Bella was four days overdue, and so as the days passed our thought of her having a colt was confirmed!!  He has an unbelievably beautiful head, and almost look like a filly he is so pretty.  This was Rolle's first AI baby and first cross to a thoroughbred mare.  We are delighted with his arrival, he has outdone our expections by a mile!!

Blondie has recently tested positive to Rolle and so is due next September.  This will be a full sibling to Lilly (RPSBS Foal OTY 07)

We are busy now preparing for the last couple of shows for the season.  Hopefully all goes well.

We had the All Welsh Show on the weekend that was held at Claremont Showgrounds.  We were in attendance with Lilly (Royal Petite) and Stevie (Dainhill Dalton).  Both horses presented to the judges lovely.  Lilly was the winner of the Part welsh filly 1year, ahead of some pretty tough competition! So we were particularly please with her result.  Again we received many lovely comments about her.  Stevie was awarded 2nd in the ridden partwelsh gelding class, which was also quite a competitive class.  All in all a great result.

1/11/2007

We decided today that we were a bit fed up of 'flatwork' all the time so Britt and Caris took Stevie (Dainhill Dalton) out for a jump along with stable mate Boo (Braefoot Park Summer Cruise) and Brooke Anthony.  It was a heap of fun for not only us but the horsies as well. Stevie loved the change and we found out that they can both jump quite well!  Just goes to show that these 'hackies' are more than just porceline dolls!

31/10/2007

And so we come to the end of another show season with the much awaited Show Horse Council Horse of the YEar held at Gosnells Pony Club.  In attendance was Dainhill Dalton (large galloway classes) and Perfect By Nature (large hack classes).  We did not take Striking as he was involved in quite a major floating accident following the Perth Royal Show, in which he managed to completely flip himself over! So we decided to leave him home this weekend, which was a real shame.

Both Stevie and Jubes did the stud proud and made the top ten finals, putting their best foot forward for Eastern States judges Anthony Mountney and Andrea Riedel-Carrison.  On this occasion Britt borrowed another small hack 'Country Belle' to compete in the rider 17-21years and was awarded the Bronze Medal, pretty good effort seeing she had only ridden her once!  Caris was also chosen in the Top 5 riders on Perfect By Nature.

So that finished off our tiring weekend of showing! and home we came exhausted, hoping that we weren't going to find a new little arrival waiting for us, as Precious (Kirreway Electra) was due on this day.  But no she managed to hold her in one more day - producing for us a beautiful bay filly on Monday the 30th October.  'Cali' as she has been named came to the world with ease, and has been a delight ever since!! We look forward to her exciting future! Pictures to come soon on the Youngstock Page.

Now on the cards is Bella Darma (our thoroughbred mare by St Jude) who is due to Rolle on the 16th November. Also we have a couple of Ag Shows before the end of the season, along with the All Welsh Show and the Coloured State Championships.

What a week!  Although the Royal Show is a lot of fun, it sure wears you out!

We got all of our team their looking exceptionally well and all performed beautifully.  Striking was awarded a fourth in a strong Novice class, and for only his second Royal ever, he behaved immaculately.

Royal Petite (Lilly) was the next to fly the Leeara Park flag.  She was awarded a deserving second in one of the strongest RP Filly classes I have seen.  She was such a good girl – stood up and ran out beautifully.  We had many wonderful comments about her.

The Part Welsh was the next breed on Day 2.  We rocked up to the show again taking Dainhill Dalton (Stevie) and Royal and Regal of Sefton (Rolle).  Rolle proved to be a little star again, first taking out the Champion Part welsh stallion or colt and powering on to claim the Supreme Part Welsh award.  He never lets the stud down – always putting in a class performance like a true showman and still only 4years of age.  Stevie also shone as he was awarded the Reserve Champion Part Welsh gelding award – in a very large class with over 10 competitors.  The ridden was in the afternoon with both Stevie (ridden by Britt) and Rolle (ridden by Rachel Crowe) in attendance.  Both of the boys worked kindly with Stevie being awarded 3rd and Rolle 5th in the ridden stallion or gelding class.

Stevie had his novice class on Day 3 and was awarded sixth place.  He worked an absolute delight and we were proud of how he handled his first Royal Show.

On Day 6 we were back there again for the junior rider classes.  Britt was placed 3rd in the rider 16 and 17years, again a very good effort.

Our last day – day 7 – proved to be tough for us!!  But First Edition (Leo) didn’t let us down in the Palomino classes.  He won the colt class 3years and under and was awarded the deserving Reserve Champion Stallion or Colt award.  Although quite a vocal gentleman, Leo is a delight to show, always having loads of presence and easily shows his stunning expansive trot.  Never does he let anything get in his way of showing off!  We received many comments on him also as he has matured so beautifully into a lovely pony, and a colour to die for!

Caris was leading for the Drexel family’s horses at this Year’s Royal.  She gained high placings with Silkwood Heaven Can Wait, Silkwood Slipstream, Hype and a super performance with KB Dances being awarded the Champion Riding Pony Gelding award.

So all in all, our Royal was a good one.  Most of the hard work paid off, leaving us with yet another one over with and next years to look forward to!

Now the focus is on our broodies.  Precious is due in 2weeks but is looking like she will go early.  Bella still has about a month to go.

Also our SHC HOTY is scheduled for the 28-29 October.  So if all is well Striking, Perfect By Nature and Dainhill Dalton will be in attendance.

We wish everyone good luck with foals due and for the rest of the showing season.

25/9/07

Due to the Equine Influenza, Gosnells Masters GN Qualifier was transferred to the 23/9/07 for the Galloways and Hacks.  (The ponies being judged on the previous scheduled date 25/8/2007).  We were in attendance with Striking and Britt did herself proud once again winning the Champion Rider 17-21years, with Rachel Crowe (our jockey for Rolle) taking Reserve.  This was a great hoot as Britt was one of the youngest riders in the class being only 17years.

With only one week to go to the Perth Royal Show, everything around the stable has become very hectic.  This year we are taking a team of six, which will be competing on different days throughout the week.  We have been working very hard to get all the team looking at their best.

  • Striking will be competing in the Hack classes and Thoroughbreds.

  • Perfect By Nature will be competing in the Hack classes.

  • Royal and Regal of Sefton is entered for the Part Welsh classes.

  • Dainhill Dalton is also entered in the Part Welsh classes and the Galloway classes.

  • Leeara Park First Edition is competing in the Palomino classes.

  • Leeara Park Royal Petite is entered in the Riding Pony classes.

This prestigious event will be the first show that Lilly (Royal Petite) has attended since being awarded the Riding Pony Foal of the Year in February as a 3month old, and so we are excited at this opportunity to show her off again.

Good luck to everyone competing, results and updates will be posted after the conclusion of the show.

19/09/07

Precious (Kirreway Electra) is due on the 28th October and looks like she’s having twins - as she is huge!!!! She is very content and loving 'pregnant' life - even if it means her huge protruding belly poking out the sides of her rug!

Bella Darma is due on the 16th November and we are really excited about both of these foals!

Both mares have now lost their winter coats and are looking a million dollars.

Blondie (Tanglewood Park Serenade in Gold) has been brought back from holidays to be put back in foal to Rolle (Royal & Regal of Sefton) for an early 2008 baby which will be a full sibling to Royal Petite.

16/09/07

This weekend we decided to attend the Pre-Royal Breed Show with Royal and Regal of Sefton and his brother Dainhill Dalton.

We were very fortunate and had a fantastic day, the results were as follows: -

Rolle:

  • Supreme Riding Pony, Part Welsh & Open Pony

  • Reserve Ridden Riding Pony & Open Pony (Ridden by Rachel Crowe)

  • 2007 SUPREME OF SUPREME LED PONY EXHIBIT

Stevie:

  • Supreme Any Other Registered Breed (as an over-height riding pony)

  • Champion Galloway Gelding

  • Champion Ridden Any Other Registered Breed

We were thrilled with how the boys went, and especially pleased with Rolle who has previously won this award as a 2yr old in 2005 and was Top 3 in 2006.

08/09/07

With the EI closing down the rest of the country and nobody being able to show, we were extremely lucky to have our EFA Horse of the Year go ahead.

Britt deservingly won her Rider 16 & 17 years, out of a big class and then was declared Reserve Champion Intermediate Rider, qualifying her for the prestigious 2007 EFA National Championships in Melbourne. She was riding her successful show hack 'Striking' and it was a huge thrill for her to be recognised for her excellent riding techniques.

Here's hoping the National Championships will be held.
